Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Friendly and professional service from Alan the electrical engineer. Replaced under cabinet lights in kitchen and replaced outdated PIR outside light. Clean, tidy workmanship and respectful of my property. Also spotted an issue with current fuse box which is now outdated and sent a comprehensive quote for replacement at later date. I was very happy with the care and quality of work today. Plus I was impressed with the customer service from Jordan with great communications from start to finish. Thank you!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I was quoted over £200 for a small job that ultimately cost me £80 using another electrician, but that's not what my 1 star review is for - if MJP Electrical Services want to extort customers that's up to them and I'm sure their customer base will respond accordingly. The 1 star is because I've subsequently received a reminder by both email and SMS every single day for last week badgering me to accept their quote!!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great service from MJP in the Withywood area. They provided all the information via email and worked with me to determine the best options for what I needed. I had a new fuse board installed, 2 new sockets and all other sockets brought up to safety standard for a reasonable price. They also performed an EICR inspection and booked me in within a few days. Our electrician Daniel was very friendly and completed everything in one day and cleaned up afterward. Fantastic job all round. I would use their service again and recommend them.

Edit: I returned to MJP after one of my light bulbs ripped off leaving exposed wires. They came out on the same day as an emergency to fix it. Once again, great work I would recommend

Solar Panels in The South West

Lower Your Bills and Increase Energy Independence

Looking to upgrade your home’s electrics or need urgent repairs? MJP Electrical delivers reliable, fully certified electrical services for homeowners and landlords in Portishead. From complete house rewiring to consumer unit upgrades and emergency callouts, our experienced electricians ensure your property is safe, compliant, and running smoothly.

If you’ve spent any time looking at the rooftops around Portishead, you might have noticed how many modern builds and renovated older houses are suddenly trying to catch every bit of available daylight. It’s easy to think that slapping a few panels on a roof is a quick win for the energy bill, but the real magic happens when you manage that power effectively. Without the right setup, you’re often left exporting your hard-earned electricity back to the grid for a pittance while still paying high rates for what you pull in at night.

Even with that in mind, getting the balance right requires more than just hardware; it requires a system designed for the specific layout of your property. Solar PV Installation & Storage becomes a much more powerful tool when you pair high-efficiency panels with a battery system that actually works with your daily habits. This setup allows you to store the sun’s energy during those bright afternoons and use it to run your appliances well after the sun has dipped below the Bristol Channel.

The simplest way to do this is to ensure the entire electrical infrastructure is capable of handling the new load. A seasoned NICEIC Electrician won’t just look at the panels, but will instead evaluate your consumer unit and existing wiring to ensure everything is safe and future-proofed. We focus on providing a seamless transition from traditional mains power to a more self-sufficient setup, ensuring the installation is tidy and the performance is consistent.

In the end, it depends on finding that sweet spot between initial investment and the long-term reduction in your monthly outgoings. By integrating intelligent storage with your solar array, you’re essentially building a small, private power station right on your property. MJP Electrical handles the technical complexities from the initial assessment to the final certification, leaving you with a streamlined system that simply works.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions here

What are the benefits of installing solar panels?

Solar panels allow you to generate your own renewable energy, reducing electricity bills and your carbon footprint. They also increase property value and provide long-term savings by protecting you from rising energy costs.

How do solar panels work?

Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity using photovoltaic (PV) cells. This electricity can be used to power your home or business, with any excess energy stored in a battery or exported back to the grid.

Is my property suitable for solar panel installation?

Most properties are suitable for solar panels, but factors such as roof orientation, angle, shading, and available space can affect efficiency. A professional assessment can determine the best setup for your property.

How long do solar panels last?

Solar panels typically last 25-30 years or more. Regular maintenance and inspections can help ensure they continue to operate efficiently throughout their lifespan.

Do I need planning permission to install solar panels?

In most cases, solar panel installations are considered permitted development and do not require planning permission. However, exceptions may apply for listed buildings or properties in conservation areas.

How much can I save with solar panels?

Savings depend on factors such as system size, energy usage, and local electricity rates. On average, solar panels can significantly reduce energy bills and provide a return on investment within a few years.

Can I store the energy my solar panels generate?

Yes, energy storage systems (batteries) can be installed alongside solar panels to store excess electricity for use during the evening or on cloudy days, increasing your energy independence.

How do I maintain my solar panels?

Solar panels require minimal maintenance. Regular cleaning to remove dirt and debris, along with periodic inspections to check for damage or inefficiencies, will help keep your system running smoothly.
