Friendly and professional service from Alan the electrical engineer. Replaced under cabinet lights in kitchen and replaced outdated PIR outside light. Clean, tidy workmanship and respectful of my property. Also spotted an issue with current fuse box which is now outdated and sent a comprehensive quote for replacement at later date. I was very happy with the care and quality of work today. Plus I was impressed with the customer service from Jordan with great communications from start to finish. Thank you!Posted on Google![]()

I was quoted over £200 for a small job that ultimately cost me £80 using another electrician, but that's not what my 1 star review is for - if MJP Electrical Services want to extort customers that's up to them and I'm sure their customer base will respond accordingly. The 1 star is because I've subsequently received a reminder by both email and SMS every single day for last week badgering me to accept their quote!!Posted on Google![]()

Great service from MJP in the Withywood area. They provided all the information via email and worked with me to determine the best options for what I needed. I had a new fuse board installed, 2 new sockets and all other sockets brought up to safety standard for a reasonable price. They also performed an EICR inspection and booked me in within a few days. Our electrician Daniel was very friendly and completed everything in one day and cleaned up afterward. Fantastic job all round. I would use their service again and recommend them. Edit: I returned to MJP after one of my light bulbs ripped off leaving exposed wires. They came out on the same day as an emergency to fix it. Once again, great work I would recommendPosted on Google![]()

How A hOUSE REwIRE PROTECTS YOUR Gloucestershire Home
Looking for a reliable electrician in Gloucestershire? MJP Electrical provides trusted, professional electrical services for homeowners and businesses in Gloucestershire. Whether you’re planning a renovation, facing urgent electrical faults, or simply want to upgrade your property’s safety, our experienced team is here to help with prompt, expert solutions.
Flickering lights or frequently tripped breakers are often just the early warnings of a system that can no longer handle modern demands. When you step back a bit, these small annoyances usually signal that the internal wiring is reaching the end of its viable lifespan. In many of the older properties across Gloucestershire, the electrical infrastructure simply wasn’t designed for high-powered appliances, EV chargers, or the general load of contemporary life. A House Re-Wire isn’t just about swapping out old cables; it is about creating a stable, safe foundation for everything your home does.
Which brings up the question of how to actually manage a project of this scale without it turning into a month-long headache. To make this work, it helps to look at the logistics of the rollout, where tidy workmanship ensures your daily routine stays as intact as possible. As a NICEIC Electrician, MJP Electrical focuses on the practicalities of the job, ensuring that every circuit is clearly labeled and every connection meets current safety standards. You get a system that functions predictably, removing that constant underlying worry about faulty connections or potential fire risks.

A big reason for this investment is the long-term value it adds to your property. Beyond the immediate peace of mind that comes with a certified inspection and new wiring, you are essentially future-proofing your home for whatever upgrades you might want later on. At the end of the day, our goal is to provide clear pricing and a finished result that feels seamless. We handle the technical complexities of the House Re-Wire so that your electricity just works the way it should.

Frequently Asked Questions

If a property hasn’t been rewired in the last 25-30 years, it will probably need upgrading, whether partially or fully, to ensure it complies with current safety standards. Given the sheer volume of electrical devices used in modern households compared to the 1980s and 90s, the existing wiring might be under strain from a high level of electricity usage, and could potentially be dangerous.
A full or partial rewire might also be required if you’re planning major renovation work that would be defined as a ‘material alteration’ by the Building Regulations. This will usually include an upgrade of the fuse board. In the case of room extensions and attic or garage conversions, any new wiring will need to comply with Part P (Electrical Safety) of the Building Regulations, and existing wiring in those rooms will also need to be improved to ensure it can safely carry additional loads; is earthed according to current requirements; and has satisfactory cross bonding. If you’re remodelling or extending, the wiring in the rest of your property won’t need upgrading unless required by the Building Regulations’ energy efficient requirements, e.g. central heating controls.
As an NICEIC Approved Contractor, you can rest assured that all work will be carried out with minimal disruption and in accordance with all relevant regulations and safety standards. Here’s a summary of what we do when rewiring a home:
- Fully assess the work required and provide you with a full quotation before we start.
- Check the existing connection to make sure it meets the correct legal requirements.
- Carry out the rewire, ensuring that we perform a full electrical safety test on all wiring.
- Test that the circuit and fuse board are functioning as they should.
- Check all sockets and power outputs to ensure they conform to current building regulations.
- Provide a copy of a rewiring certificate for electrical installation, detailing all the work required to make your property safe.
Our electricians treat every customer’s property like their own, using shoe protectors and dust mats where necessary, and always cleaning up once a job is complete.
Many UK homes have old electrical wiring and getting your home rewired is a great way of adding value and ensuring safe and reliable operation. Electrical rewiring costs will vary depending on some factors including:
- The size of your house (naturally a three bedroom house will cost more than a one bedroom flat).
- Whether the home is occupied during the rewiring (electricians will work faster in an empty property).
- The specification of fittings and fixtures you choose (stainless steel versus white PVC sockets etc.).
- The number of socket outlets etc. and other extras such as security lighting or outside power points.
- Where you live in the UK because of regional variances in contractor costs across the country.
We have been rewiring homes for a long time so we have got the process off to a tee we can rewire homes in as little as 2-3 days depending on specification and size of the property. Typically it takes:
1 Bedroom 4-7 days
2 Bedrooms 5-8 days
3 Bedrooms 6-10 days
4 Bedrooms 1-2 weeks
5 Bedrooms 10-15 days
- System in excess of 30 years.
- Old fusebox
- Old accessories
- Frequently Tripping fuses
- “Green slime” oxidation of cables
- Sockets mounted on skirting boards
- Black rubber cables
