A Specific Installation Condition Report (SICR) is a crucial electrical safety document for both commercial and large-scale residential properties in Caerphilly. It identifies any damage, deterioration, defects, or dangerous conditions within your electrical installation, ensuring it remains safe and compliant with current regulations. At MJP Electrical, our NICEIC registered electricians provide thorough and reliable SICRs in Caerphilly, giving you complete peace of mind.
Why SICRs are Important
The Importance to your business in Caerphilly
For any property owner in Caerphilly investing in renewable energy, the Solar Installation Condition Report (SICR) is a vital document for ensuring the long-term safety and performance of your solar PV system. Much like a standard electrical inspection, an SICR provides a comprehensive evaluation of your solar panels, inverters, mounting structures, and all associated wiring. It identifies potential points of failure, such as degraded cabling, loose connections, or environmental damage, before they result in system downtime or, more critically, a fire hazard.

Friendly and professional service from Alan the electrical engineer. Replaced under cabinet lights in kitchen and replaced outdated PIR outside light. Clean, tidy workmanship and respectful of my property. Also spotted an issue with current fuse box which is now outdated and sent a comprehensive quote for replacement at later date. I was very happy with the care and quality of work today. Plus I was impressed with the customer service from Jordan with great communications from start to finish. Thank you!Posted on Google![]()

I was quoted over £200 for a small job that ultimately cost me £80 using another electrician, but that's not what my 1 star review is for - if MJP Electrical Services want to extort customers that's up to them and I'm sure their customer base will respond accordingly. The 1 star is because I've subsequently received a reminder by both email and SMS every single day for last week badgering me to accept their quote!!Posted on Google![]()

Great service from MJP in the Withywood area. They provided all the information via email and worked with me to determine the best options for what I needed. I had a new fuse board installed, 2 new sockets and all other sockets brought up to safety standard for a reasonable price. They also performed an EICR inspection and booked me in within a few days. Our electrician Daniel was very friendly and completed everything in one day and cleaned up afterward. Fantastic job all round. I would use their service again and recommend them. Edit: I returned to MJP after one of my light bulbs ripped off leaving exposed wires. They came out on the same day as an emergency to fix it. Once again, great work I would recommendPosted on Google![]()

Why Choose Our NICEIC Registered Team for Your SICR Reporting?
Choosing MJP Electrical means opting for unparalleled expertise and guaranteed safety. As NICEIC registered electricians, our qualifications are regularly assessed, ensuring all our work, including SICRs, meets the highest industry standards. This registration signifies our commitment to electrical safety and compliance, allowing us to self-certify our work under Part P of the Building Regulations. You can trust that our SICR will be thorough, accurate, and conducted with meticulous attention to detail. Our team is fully insured, 18th Edition qualified, and dedicated to delivering exceptional service, providing you with a clear and concise report that outlines the integrity of your electrical installation.
It’s easy to think that if the lights are staying on and your machinery is humming along, your commercial site is perfectly safe. However, electrical infrastructure in a business environment undergoes a lot of stress that residential systems just don’t face. Whether it’s heavy equipment draws or constant fluctuations in demand, your wiring works hard every single day to keep things moving. This makes Commercial SICRs an essential part of your maintenance routine rather than just another box to tick on an insurance form.
The simplest way to do this is by scheduling a thorough inspection that looks at the health of your entire distribution network. As a NICEIC Registered Electrician, MJP Electrical approaches these assessments with a focus on identifying hidden risks before they escalate into costly downtime. We look at everything from circuit integrity to the condition of your distribution boards, ensuring that your Caerphilly premises remain compliant and operational.

In a similar way to a routine vehicle service, these checks provide a baseline for your property’s safety. We don’t just find problems; we offer a clear path forward to rectify them. By providing transparent pricing and certified results, we help you manage your overheads while securing a stable environment for your staff and customers.
That pretty much sums up our approach to commercial safety. You get a detailed report of where your system stands and a practical plan for any necessary upgrades or repairs. It’s about keeping your business running smoothly in the background so you can focus on your actual work without worrying about what’s happening behind the walls.
Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions here
A SICR, or Specific Electrical Installation Condition Report, is a detailed inspection and report of a particular part or circuit of an electrical installation, rather than the entire system. While a standard EICR inspection (Electrical Installation Condition Report) assesses the whole property’s electrical system, a SICR focuses on specific areas or circuits, often requested when modifications are made to a specific part of an existing installation, or if there’s a localised concern.
A business or homeowner might need a SICR in several situations. This often includes after significant alterations to a single circuit, for example, installing a new heavy-duty appliance, adding a new extension to a property that only impacts certain circuits, or if there’s a persistent fault in one specific area that requires a focused, in-depth investigation. It’s a targeted compliance check to ensure specific electrical works meet safety standards.
Absolutely. All MJP Electrical electricians performing SICR assessments are highly qualified, experienced, and critically, NICEIC registered. This ensures that our detailed inspections and reports are conducted to the highest industry standards, fully complying with BS 7671 wiring regulations, and are legally recognised by all relevant authorities. Our expertise guarantees accurate and thorough reporting of your specific electrical installations.
MJP Electrical provides professional SICR services across the entire South West of England. Our expert teams are strategically located to serve homes and businesses in Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire, South Wales, and Swindon, ensuring that wherever you are, you have access to precise and reliable electrical condition reporting for your specific installations.
A SICR assessment involves a comprehensive visual inspection and a series of electrical tests specifically tailored to the designated circuit or part of the installation. Our electricians will identify any deviations from current safety standards, damage, deterioration, defects, or dangerous conditions. The findings are then documented in a detailed report, outlining the condition of the specific electrical elements, and noting any necessary remedial actions.
The duration of a SICR can vary significantly depending on the complexity and extent of the specific circuit or installation being assessed. As it is a targeted inspection, it is generally quicker than a full EICR. Our electrician will provide an estimated timeframe after understanding the specific scope of the work required.
Yes, by identifying and addressing specific faults or non-compliant sections of your electrical system, a SICR can play a crucial role in preventing future problems. It ensures that any recent modifications or existing localised issues are up to current safety standards, isolating potential risks before they can escalate into larger, more costly, or dangerous electrical failures.
While a full EICR is often a legal requirement for landlords and businesses, a SICR may be indirectly required when specific works are carried out that need to be certified as safe and compliant. For instance, if a new circuit is added or an existing one is significantly modified, a SICR ensures that this specific work meets regulatory standards, protecting both property owners and users.
