Friendly and professional service from Alan the electrical engineer. Replaced under cabinet lights in kitchen and replaced outdated PIR outside light. Clean, tidy workmanship and respectful of my property. Also spotted an issue with current fuse box which is now outdated and sent a comprehensive quote for replacement at later date. I was very happy with the care and quality of work today. Plus I was impressed with the customer service from Jordan with great communications from start to finish. Thank you!Posted on Google![]()

I was quoted over £200 for a small job that ultimately cost me £80 using another electrician, but that's not what my 1 star review is for - if MJP Electrical Services want to extort customers that's up to them and I'm sure their customer base will respond accordingly. The 1 star is because I've subsequently received a reminder by both email and SMS every single day for last week badgering me to accept their quote!!Posted on Google![]()

Great service from MJP in the Withywood area. They provided all the information via email and worked with me to determine the best options for what I needed. I had a new fuse board installed, 2 new sockets and all other sockets brought up to safety standard for a reasonable price. They also performed an EICR inspection and booked me in within a few days. Our electrician Daniel was very friendly and completed everything in one day and cleaned up afterward. Fantastic job all round. I would use their service again and recommend them. Edit: I returned to MJP after one of my light bulbs ripped off leaving exposed wires. They came out on the same day as an emergency to fix it. Once again, great work I would recommendPosted on Google![]()

NICEIC Registered Electricians for Your Compliance Needs
Our Compliance Process
Choosing MJP Electrical means partnering with a team of highly qualified and NICEIC registered electricians. Our NICEIC registration is a critical trust signal, demonstrating our competence and adherence to the highest industry standards. It ensures that all our electrical work, from EICR certificates to consumer unit upgrades, allows for self-certification under Part P Building Regulations, provides insurance-backed guarantees, and consistently meets the exacting standards of BS 7671.
At first, it kind of looks like just another tick on a checklist, but ensuring your property meets modern safety standards is actually the backbone of long-term property value. Many people in Chepstow wait until they notice a flickering light or a tripped breaker to think about their wiring, but the real goal is proactive risk management. We focus on making sure your internal systems aren’t just functional today, but reliable enough to handle the demands of modern appliances and lifestyle changes without breaking.
It’s less about fulfilling a legal formality and more about creating a foundation of safety that gives you peace of mind every time you flip a switch. When you dig into this a bit, the complexities of outdated circuitry become clear, especially in older buildings where the original layout simply wasn’t designed for the electrical load we use now. As NICEIC Electricians, our role is to bridge that gap by identifying hidden hazards and modernising components before they turn into actual emergencies.

One way to close that gap is by through a thorough Electrical Compliance assessment that looks at the big picture. We don’t just swap out a faulty fuse; we examine the entire integrity of your system to ensure everything aligns with current regulations. This means getting you a clear, honest picture of what needs attention now and what can wait, allowing you to make informed decisions about your home’s infrastructure.
And that’s really what it comes down to. You want a space that works the way it should, without having to worry about whether the wiring behind the walls is holding up. MJP Electrical handles the technical heavy lifting so that your property remains safe, compliant, and ready for whatever comes next.

Electrical compliance refers to ensuring that all electrical installations and systems meet current legal and safety standards, such as those outlined in the BS 7671 wiring regulations and the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. It is crucial for commercial, industrial, and landlord-owned properties to protect occupants from electrical hazards, prevent accidents, and avoid potential legal penalties and insurance issues. Compliance also demonstrates due diligence regarding safety responsibilities.
MJP Electrical offers a comprehensive range of electrical compliance services for residential landlords, commercial businesses, and industrial properties. This includes Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR), PAT testing (Portable Appliance Testing), emergency lighting testing, fire alarm system inspections and testing, and landlord electrical safety certificates. We help ensure your property meets all relevant legislation and safety standards.
Absolutely. All MJP Electrical electricians are highly qualified, experienced, and NICEIC registered, making them fully competent to conduct thorough compliance inspections and testing. Our registration is a critical trust signal, ensuring that all work is performed to the highest industry standards, is legally recognised, and adheres strictly to BS 7671 (18th Edition) wiring regulations.
MJP Electrical provides essential electrical compliance services across the entire South West of England. Our expert teams are strategically located to serve landlords and businesses in Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire, South Wales, and Swindon, ensuring your electrical systems are safe, compliant, and fully certified.
The frequency of electrical compliance inspections depends on the type of property and its use. For rented residential properties, an EICR inspection is typically required every 5 years or upon a change of tenancy. Commercial properties often require main fixed wiring inspections every 3-5 years, while PAT testing is usually an annual requirement. We can advise on the specific frequency needed for your particular premises.
If your property fails an electrical compliance inspection, our qualified electricians will provide a detailed report outlining any C1 (danger present), C2 (potentially dangerous), or C3 (improvement recommended) observations. We will then discuss the necessary remedial work to rectify the faults and bring your electrical system up to the required safety standards, ensuring your property achieves compliance.
Yes, operating a property with non-compliant electrical systems can have significant repercussions. It may invalidate your insurance policy, leaving you unprotected in case of an electrical fire or accident. Furthermore, non-compliance can lead to legal penalties, fines, and even prosecution for landlords and business owners who fail to uphold their duty of care.
To obtain an electrical compliance certificate, you would typically arrange an inspection with a qualified and NICEIC registered electrician like those at MJP Electrical. Following a thorough assessment of your electrical installations, and assuming all standards are met or faults rectified, we will issue the relevant certification, such as an EICR certificate, confirming your property’s electrical safety and compliance.
