Friendly and professional service from Alan the electrical engineer. Replaced under cabinet lights in kitchen and replaced outdated PIR outside light. Clean, tidy workmanship and respectful of my property. Also spotted an issue with current fuse box which is now outdated and sent a comprehensive quote for replacement at later date. I was very happy with the care and quality of work today. Plus I was impressed with the customer service from Jordan with great communications from start to finish. Thank you!

I was quoted over £200 for a small job that ultimately cost me £80 using another electrician, but that's not what my 1 star review is for - if MJP Electrical Services want to extort customers that's up to them and I'm sure their customer base will respond accordingly. The 1 star is because I've subsequently received a reminder by both email and SMS every single day for last week badgering me to accept their quote!!

Great service from MJP in the Withywood area. They provided all the information via email and worked with me to determine the best options for what I needed. I had a new fuse board installed, 2 new sockets and all other sockets brought up to safety standard for a reasonable price. They also performed an EICR inspection and booked me in within a few days. Our electrician Daniel was very friendly and completed everything in one day and cleaned up afterward. Fantastic job all round. I would use their service again and recommend them. Edit: I returned to MJP after one of my light bulbs ripped off leaving exposed wires. They came out on the same day as an emergency to fix it. Once again, great work I would recommend

Local Emergency Electrician in Cheltenham:

Most Common Fixes in Cheltenham

At MJP Electrical, we’re your rapid response team for urgent electrical issues in Cheltenham. As NICEIC-registered electricians, our local expertise means we’re not just fixing faults; we understand why electrical emergencies are often more prevalent here, allowing us to diagnose and resolve them faster.

The unique characteristics of Cheltenham frequently contribute to critical electrical failures:

Picture this for a second: it’s late on a Tuesday evening and you’re suddenly left in the dark because your consumer unit has tripped or a circuit has fried. Electrical failures rarely happen at convenient times, and when a live wire sparks or the power cuts out completely, the immediate priority is making the property safe before things escalate. This is where a reliable Emergency Electrician becomes your first port of call to handle the immediate hazard and get your lights back on.

One key part of this is ensuring that the repair isn’t just a quick fix but a durable restoration of your home’s safety. As a NICEIC Electrician, our team understands that a malfunctioning fuse box or a burning smell from a wall socket indicates an underlying issue that needs professional attention. We focus on identifying the root cause of the fault quickly, whether it involves a faulty appliance, overloaded circuits, or deteriorating wiring that can’t handle the modern demands of your household.

To make things run more smoothly, it helps to have a clear picture of what happens when we arrive on-site in Cheltenham. We handle the diagnostic process with a focus on tidy workmanship, ensuring that the repair is completed without leaving your living space in a mess of debris or temporary wires. Because we prioritize certified results, you receive a service that meets strict safety standards, giving you peace of mind that the underlying cause of the emergency has been neutralized for the long term.

Going forward, it helps to look at these sudden failures as an opportunity to assess the overall health of your electrical system. While our primary goal is responding to your urgent callout, we can also discuss how a full rewire or a consumer unit upgrade might prevent these same types of outages from recurring. By addressing these structural needs now, you create a more stable environment for your everyday electronics and heavy-duty appliances alike.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions here

An electrical emergency means any situation where there is an immediate risk of harm to people, damage to property, or significant disruption to essential services. This includes complete power outages, burning smells from outlets, flickering lights that indicate a serious issue, exposed wires, or sockets that are sparking. If you suspect an emergency, it is always best to contact a qualified electrician urgently.

We understand the urgency of electrical problems. Our local emergency electricians are strategically positioned across Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire, South Wales, and Swindon, aiming to respond to urgent call-outs as quickly as possible. When you contact us, we’ll provide an estimated arrival time and guide you on immediate safety steps.

Absolutely. All MJP Electrical emergency electricians are highly qualified, experienced, and hold the necessary certifications, including being NICEIC registered. This ensures our work meets the highest safety and regulatory standards, including BS 7671 wiring regulations. We are also fully insured for your peace of mind.

MJP Electrical provides comprehensive emergency electrical services across the entire South West of England, including major areas like Bristol, Bath, Gloucestershire, South Wales, and Swindon. Our local teams ensure prompt and reliable service wherever you are within our service regions.

We strongly advise against attempting to resolve an electrical emergency yourself. Electrical work can be extremely dangerous if not handled by a qualified professional. For your safety, always switch off the main power supply if safe to do so, and then contact a professional emergency electrician immediately.

Our expert emergency electricians are equipped to handle a wide range of urgent issues, from sudden power loss and tripping circuits to faulty wiring, urgent lighting repairs, and issues with consumer units. We diagnose and rectify electrical faults efficiently and safely. We also offer planned services like consumer unit replacement to prevent future emergencies.

The cost of an emergency call-out can vary depending on the nature of the fault, the time of day, and the parts required. We believe in transparency and will provide a clear explanation of charges before any work commences. Please contact us directly for an immediate quote based on your specific situation.

If it’s safe to do so, switch off your main electricity supply at the consumer unit. Avoid touching any exposed wires or faulty appliances. Ensure children and pets are kept away from the affected area. If there’s a smell of burning or smoke, evacuate your property and call the fire brigade in addition to MJP Electrical.
